Being Greatful

On the 11th I had a chance to go to Welfare Square and the Humanitarian Center to do some service. While at Welfare Square the Laurels and the Priests went and helped at the D.I. It was actually more fun then I thought it would be. I learned a lot of stuff about the D.I. Before going, I didn't know that they had people from all over the world working there and I also didn't know that you could work there to get stuff.

After we went to Welfare Square we had a chance to serve at the Humanitarian Center. That was also fun. We made little kits that consisted of masks and little hand towels. What made this especially fun was that we made it a little contest. It was kind of ridiculous but suprisingly fun.

This whole experience made me realize how much we really have compared to other people. I used to think that I didn't have enough. Now when I fell sorry for myself I think about how much we have and how much other people don't have. It made me happy that I could do this service and bless other peoples lives. I now have a greater appreciation for what I do have. It also made me realize that everything that we have comes from God and we need to be greatful and thank him for the things that we do have instead of worrying about the things we don't have.

Days of 47 parade

Wednesday July 22 I was at work. I don't even remember what me and Alisha were talking about but something came up about how the band was going to they Days of 47 and that we wanted to go. Alisha had to babysit for the Carols that night so I told her to tell her that we wanted to go be the banner carriers. (Ben Carol is the band director) I was just joking about it and we laughed. Well, when I got home from work I got a phone call at 10:00PM. It was Mr. Carol. He told me that someone told him I was interested in going and he wanted me to go because he was desperate for another banner carrier! I just started laughing. I didn't know whether I wanted to go or not but I said yes anyways.

We left the morning of the 23rd. We went to boondocks and we had a pretty good time. It wasn't the best but it was still fun. At boondocks we played laser tag, played arcade games, and raced gocarts! It was kind of little kiddish but it was still fun. My team lost laser tag but I was still the highest score on my team.

On the 24th we went to the parade. We had to wait forever to start because we were number 104! The parade started at nine and it wasn't our turn until about 10:45. The girl that I was holding the banner with was too tall! She held it up to her chest so I had to hold it up to my neck because she was taller than me. It was tiring to hold it up for that long. The parade was also hot. It was fun though! It made me giggle how all of the little kids had little squirt guns and would squirt us with them.

After the parade we went to Lagoon! It was a blast. Me and one of my friends, Natalie, hung out most of the time because we are both terrified of heights! Me and her went on the Tidal Wave, White Roller Coaster, and some other little kid spinny rides. We didn't know what else to do because we are major babies! She made me come on the Wild Mouse with her! I didn't want to because it looked very scary so I chickened out the first time and then she actually made me. It was a pretty fun ride but it hurt! I don't like how it jerks you around that much. After that we were just walking around and we found one of our friends, Tanya, just sitting there. We went and talked to her and then we went and walked around. I got in the line for the Jet Star and so the both followed me. The Jet Star is one of my favorite rides! Me and my friend Tanya were both in the seat together. The seat was pretty big and we're both pretty skinny so we though we were going to fall out. The whole time we were going up she was like "I'm too little to die!" It was so funny. Natalie went with other friends while me and Tanya went on some more little kid rides. After that we just went and got in line for the Samurai! I was super scared and super excited at the same time! It was definately worth the huge line! Everytime we got turned upsidedown I freaked though! After the Samurai we headed back to the bus because it was about 8:50 and we were supposed to start heading back at 8:30

On our way home I was just listening to music and I was about half asleep when of the the sudden I hear a hug wack sound. I scared me so I turn off my music and sit up and Chase was like WE JUST HAD A BLOWOUT! Luckily that happened where we still had service because we were in the canyon! We called the bus garrage and told them what happened and we drove really slow to the rest area. Some of us went outside and talked and ran around for a while just to waste time. After waiting about 1 and 1/2 hours the other bus got there. We loaded all of our stuff onto that bus and started on our way home. We were expected to get home around Midnight to 1:00 and I got home around 3:30. It was pretty crazy but it was a funny experience.

Well, that was my amazing trip! I'm glad that I got called and I'm glad I said yes because if I didn't I know that I wouldn't have had that good of a time!
