I'll miss you Kassi Linn!

Yesterday I went to the funeral of my niece named Kassi. It was probably the hardest funeral I've been to. She passed away on March 18th in a car accident. Kassi was just eighteen years old. You're probably wondering how it's possible to have a niece older than me. My brother Tyler married a girl older than him that had three kids. Kassi is the middle one. She has an older sister named Kolden and a younger brother named Kody.

I loved Kassi so much. She meant a lot to me. Whenever Kassi and I got together we were like best friends. She's such an amazing girl. She is so beautiful, just like her mom. She had long dark beautiful hair, and she was skinny and small. I was so jealous of how beautiful she was.

Kassi never cared what people thought about her. She never got mad at people unless they gave her a really good reason. Kassi was one person who always involved everybody. She always felt bad for people and did things for them just to make sure that they were happy.

I remember one time Kassi, Kody, Adam, and I went to the skate park. It was really hot there and Kassi and I weren't doing anything so we decided to walk to the store and buy us some drinks. Me and her bought our drinks and I put our drinks up on the counter to pay for them. As soon as I put them up there she was like "wait, we didn't get anything for Adam and Kody. They've been skating and it's really hot outside. We should probably get them a drink."

That's just one of many examples of her caring about other people. She always thought of others before herself and I loved that about her.

Kassi also had the prettiest smile. She didn't smile much, but when she did it was beautiful. I remember always telling her to smile because she looked mad. Everytime I told her that she would say "Melanie, just because I'm not smiling doesn't mean I'm mad!" She would yell it too. Then after she would just laugh. That's why I always told her that because I knew that it would make her smile.

Kassi was a very quite person. She didn't like yelling or loud anything. She also didn't like contention. She was such a peacemaker.

She was not afraid to die. Sometimes she actually wanted to so that she could be with her mom. Kassi always lived by the quote "live like today was your last day". I actually learned that quote from her because she always said it.

She was loved by everybody. She had a lot of friends to support her. There was so much people at the funeral. There wasn't even standing room! Everybody loved her because she was a sweet girl.

I'll miss Kassi, but I know I'll see her again. God has plan for everything, and it was her time to go. I'm glad that families can be together forever and that I can see her again. She's with her mom now. I bet she's having a good time and she wants us all to be happy. I just can't wait till I get to see her and her mom again. They are amazing girls. :)

Birthday!

So today is my birthday! Wahoo! It really doesn't feel like I'm any older. The only thing that is really different is that I can donate blood now. I even forgot it was my birthday. I was about ready to leave for conference this morning and I was like "Woah, today is my brithday."

Before I left my mom told me happy birthday. She's such a good mom. She never forgets anything! I love her so much.

I've had a great birthday so far. I went to stake conference and it was good. The speakers all had something good to say, and they did a good job. I was actually able to take a nap without getting a headache after. (Whenever I take a nap I get horrible headaches.) Also, my brother Travis called me to wish me a happy birthday. He is an awesome brother. My brother Tyler e-mailed me to tell my happy birthday. Right now my brother Justin is making me a yummy cake.

I love my big family. They're all so nice to me. It's fun to get a bunch of calls from my family. I also like calling all of my brothers and my sister to wish them happy birthday.

Well, that is my wonderful birthday. yay :)

A nIgHt To TrEaSuRe!!

On Friday, March 6th, we had the junior prom. The theme of prom was A Night To Treasure. All the girls looked so beautiful, and the guys looked good also. It was fun practicing for the promenade dance and getting ready for prom, but I'm so glad it's over because all everybody talked about was prom prom prom and it kind of got tiring.
The promenade dance was so fun! I was nervous because I was in group A and I was the very first one to get called out. I don't know why I was nervous, but I was. I really thought that I would forget the dance but I didn't. Trenton and I actually didn't very well, and didn't forget anything. He was a way good partner.

After promenade I went with Alisha and her date and some of our friends to R Pizza Place. We ate some yummy pizza. After that, they took me home and they went and watched a movie. The reason why I didn't stay for all of prom was because I didn't have a date.
I did have a date until the day before prom. Two days before prom, my date told me that he might not be able to go anymore because of his soccer game. He is from a different school than I, and they changed his game to an away game and he didn't know about it till like two days before. He asked his friends for advice and they all told him that they would kill him if he didn't go to prom with me. The next day he went to practice and he told his coach that he was going to prom with me and that he wouldn't be able to make it to the game. I've been told by a few people, one person was on the soccer team, that the coach flipped out. The coach told him that if he didn't go the game that he would be kicked off the team.

I took it pretty well actually. I thought I was going to flip out at prom because I didn't have a date, but I didn't. I still had a great night. I stayed in my dress until 2 in the morning. I looked beautiful too! I had a blast getting ready, and I had a blast doing the promenade dance! I thought that prom was supposed to be a big night, but it really wasn't. It's expensive, and you waste more time getting prepared for it than you do at the prom. Prom is fun, but it's not as important and everybody says it is.
When I found out for sure that I didn't have a date, I told my mom. She told my dad, and he was like "If I would've known that then I would've got you a coursage(sp?)." I wasn't expecting him to still get me one but he did. It was gorgeous, and it matched perfectly! He was so good to me and he felt bad for me because I didn't have a date anymore.

I'm just glad that I had a cute dress, cute face, cute hair, cute shoes, cute jewelry, a great promenade dance partner, and I got to dance with my dad. Prom was a blast!
